Paul’s role is multifaceted and mysterious. There are those who believe he was inspired to row solely to give birth to Rock’n’Row, “the best club ever”. Paul has raced the Blackburn Challenge four times with a personal best of 3:45. He loves to ski, sail, be outdoors doing whatever in the company of great people like Terrie Leake. He also loves his family, cars, good food and has a lifelong interest in leadership and personal growth.

Vice President · Officer · Board Member
The queen of multi-tasking, Stephanie does an incredible job managing both her high-powered day job and the task of being one of the VPs for the club. She is an accomplished rower in her Maas 24 “Chickadee”. Rounding out her love for the water is her husband Stephan and dog (club mascot) Beauie.

Vice President · Safety Captain · Coach · Officer · Board Member
Emily acts as both protector and coach for Rock’n’Rowers. Emily has competed in the Head of the Charles, Royal Canadian Henley and U.S. Rowing Club Nationals. She has medaled at Master’s Nationals, Worlds Masters and many of the head races in the Northeast. Emily began coaching in 2004 and coached juniors through adults in both competitive and recreational sweeps and sculls. She coached the novice program at Simmons College and was Assistant Coach of the nationally ranked Junior Girls team at Community Rowing in Boston. Emily also enjoys running, reading and knitting, has two daughters, a husband, a cat, and not enough time to row.

As one of the club’s Vice President and Board Members, Thomas’ responsibilities direct him wherever he is needed most. He began rowing on the local river “Neckar” in his native Germany at the age of ten and competed in his first race in a single at the age of eleven. He is a professor of marketing communication and a consultant and co-owner of an international digital marketing agency. When he is not rowing, teaching or consulting, he spends time with his wife and two daughters, and the family dog.

Chair, Social Committee · Secretary · Officer · Board Member
We have to thank our lucky stars more than once that Terrie agreed to take the role on as club Secretary. She brings to the board meetings the type of organizational skills dramatically lacking by our club President and thereby keeping us all on track with minutes, agendas and the individual To Do list.

Treasurer · Officer · Board Member
Where does all the money go? If you need to know Jean is the one to ask. In her role as club treasurer she prevents the two founders from reaching too far into the cookie jar and makes sure at the end of the day there is enough left over to pay for the rent, insurance and necessary club maintenance. After purchasing an Echo Rower, Jean remembers her first memorable rowing experience was with Paulie and Terrie “We rowed to Halfway Rock about 4 miles off shore and didn't know enough at that time to realize how far we were testing our limits… I love rowing for the mix of Zen and sweat.”

Chair, Goverance Committee · Weekend Rowing Czar · Board Member
As the club’s Rowing Czar Charlie organizes group weekend rows, providing the opportunity for rowers of all ability levels to get out on the water and enjoy the full RnR experience. Usually followed up by a “nosh” and some form of alcoholic “imbibements”, these weekend rows are considered by some to be the highlight of the rowing season. He joined RocknRow as a novice rower in 2008 and by 2010, rowed the Blackburn Challenge, a 20-plus mile open water race around Cape Ann Massachusetts. Charlie is the managing attorney for energy issues at the National Consumer Law Center, where he helps to make sure low-income families have enough heat in the winter and electric service year-round. He enjoys Taiko drumming, playing jazz piano, and — most of all — hanging out with his fellow rowers at RnR.

Chair, Membership Committee · Co-Founder · Board Member
Jack serves as co-founder of Rock’n’Row, along with Paul Mazonson. In this role, Jack acts as the club’s chief motivator with “Get out and row” as his membership call to action. Jack now has more than 1,000 nautical miles rowing in all kinds of conditions. When not rowing, Jack is manager of Merrimack Valley Distributing Company in Danvers, MA.

Board Member
As a charter member of Rock’n’Row, Jay serves on the board with responsibilities for advancing publicity and community awareness. He began rowing competitively at fourteen on the Charles River and, except for the occasional hiatus to make a living and raise children, he has rowed throughout, and now hopes to continue into his dotage. He was a two-time national champion at Union Boat Club, stroked for Princeton and a few years ago sculled from Cambridge, MA to Portland, Maine.

Fleet Captain
Charter Member and “Commissioner of Equipment”, Chris is someone you see around the boat shed with epoxy and screw gun in hand. Keeps all the club boats in tip top condition and makes sure equipment is water ready. From graceful rower to extreme skier Chris covers the total gambit of outside recreational activities. His hobbies are too numerous to mention, but he wants to give a shout-out to his wife Terrie for introducing him to this wonderful sport.
